Enter the world of 'Tejano magic'

"Some things are implanted in, what I call, 'Tejano magic.' Just South Texas magical traditions of things I learned and picked up from people I look up to and respect that helped guide me along the way."

“Who wants to go first?" asked the curandera, Ema Rodriguez.

Fingers immediately pointed to Rodriguez Treiber, prompting more laughter.

Billy Joel’s "Only The Good Die Young" suddenly sounded through the speakers in the background.

Rodriguez Treiber looked at the curandera. "This was the song that was playing when my dad died," she said.

Coincidence? Perhaps. Perhaps not.

Local business turns into success because of social media

“I had a lot of responsibilities I had to take care of, so I thought what can I do?” says local business owner, Ema Rodriguez.

That same month, Rodriguez says her hours were cut at her previous job, so she decided to turn her project into something more.

“Connecting with spirits was something that as a huge part of my life already," she said. "I thought, well, if I share it with others maybe there's a want for that, maybe there’s a need for that."
